Time - Z'man Part 2 of 3

Time - Z'man Part 2 of 3

The second part of our 3 part series on z’man (time) will focus on the second letter  mem.

The Mem

Mem - Hebrew letter open

The 13th letter of the alefbet
Has a value of 40
Is a picture of a wave of water

This letter again links to the Word – the spring of Torah. Yeshua is the living water.
Yeshua, as we can see from the study so far, is the zayin and the mem.
The sword and the water.

Jeremiah 2:13

“For my people have committed two evils:
they have abandoned me,
the fountain of living water,
and dug themselves cisterns, broken cisterns,
that can hold no water! CJB

Revelation 22:1

“Next the angel showed me the river of the water of life, sparkling like crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb.” CJB

The mem also means people, nations, tongues and languages.

The mem has two forms:

Open when it is at the beginning or the middle of a word – this means the revealed truth of Adonai.
Closed when it as the end of a word – this means the concealed truth of Adonai.

What is the significance of 40?

40 Days and nights of the flood
40 Years in the wilderness
40 Moshe’s days on Mount Sinai
40 days of fasting and trial by Yeshua HaMashiach
40 Days of conception to the initial formation of the foetus
40 Weeks of gestation until birth

From this we can see that 40 is a time of testing and growth, trial and development. Forty holds such significance in the word and in life and the sages say this is also the age when we receive true insight.

Makom

Makom Hebrew for place

Makom is a Hebrew name of Adonai and this means ‘place’.

The sages say that this word represents the omnipresence of Adonai. This word, with the open mem, represents Adonai’s Presence that is open and brings revelation and the closed mem at the end of the word represents the mysteries of Adonai that are hidden from man’s understanding.

At the heart of z’man (time) is living water and the divine presence of Adonai Elohim.

zman - time in Hebrew

Should we choose to walk in His rhythm for our lives and keep His mitvot, chukat and mishpatim (commandments, ordinances and statutes) we will walk in His wonder and blessing. That is Adonai's promise to us.

Leviticus 26: 3 – 9

“‘If you live by my regulations, observe my mitzvot and obey them; then I will provide the rain you need in its season, the land will yield its produce, and the trees in the field will yield their fruit. Your threshing time will extend until the grape harvest, and your grape harvesting will extend until the time for sowing seed. You will eat as much food as you want and live securely in your land.

(LY: ii)  “‘I will give shalom in the land — you will lie down to sleep unafraid of anyone. I will rid the land of wild animals. The sword will not go through your land You will pursue your enemies, and they will fall before your sword Five of you will chase a hundred, and a hundred of you will chase ten thousand — your enemies will fall before your sword.

“‘I will turn toward you, make you productive, increase your numbers and uphold my covenant with you. (RY: v, LY: iii) You will eat all you want from last year’s harvest and throw out what remains of the old to make room for the new. I will put my tabernacle among you, and I will not reject you, but I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be my people. I am Adonai your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, so that you would not be their slaves. I have broken the bars of your yoke, so that you can walk upright. CJB

The blessings of walking in His ways are too glorious to ignore or purposefully bypass yet too many believers do.

So, with this is our hearts and at the heart of our time on this earth, let us heed the words of our Saviour and King:

John 7:37 - 38

“If anyone is thirsty, let him keep coming to me and drinking! Whoever puts his trust in me, as the Scripture says, rivers of living water will flow from his inmost being!” CJB

Every word written in the Scriptures holds purpose and meaning. Every jot and tittle must be considered for us to live a life that shines forth the glory of our King.

When we ignore the living water and choose not to drink from it, instead of shalom (peace) and nourishment we live with chaos and uncertainty. Ignoring Abba Father's clearly directed appointed times and seasons for our lives is a sure way of walking directly off of the path He has carefully created for us to walk in.

This is our opportunity to full understand that Father has called us to keep His times and seasons from the very beginning when He set the sun, moon and stars in the heavens.

When we surrender our time to Him and step in time with His ways for our lives, it is then that that many of the hidden and concealed treasures Abba Father has for us begin to be revealed!

Our time on this earth needs the weight and the life of the Word, Yeshua. This is just the preparation for the life in the Kingdom and I for one don't want to miss the dress rehearsal.

Shalom blessings,

Michelle
